Foreigners Service in Mojácar
To stay in Spain, either permanently or temporarily, it is necessary to apply for an identification document.
This identification document can be a NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjeros) and will be needed by people who are not resident in the country. This number will allow the foreign citizen to open a bank account in Spain, buy a house, a vehicle, pay their non-resident taxes, accept an inheritance or a donation and any other procedure that needs to be carried out in Spanish territory.
There is also the residence card document to stay in Spain permanently. People who stay in Spain for more than 183 days in the same year must obtain a residence card. Once it has been granted, it will serve to legalise the citizen's situation as a taxpayer and tax resident, obtain a Spanish Driving Licence, receive Spanish healthcare, be able to open bank accounts as a resident and be able to obtain the corresponding Tax Residence Certificate in Spain.
